A JOURNEY FOR REAL FOOD WITH REAL FLAVOR
We are a small Ma and Pa farm with chickens, ducks, and bees plus plants and produce. We can deliver eggs or have them for pickup by appointment. Plants and produce are available seasonally.
You can also find us at farmers markets. Currently we are at Lawrence Farmers Market every other Saturday. We share a spot with Eat 8 Flowers who is in the spot on the alternate Saturdays. We also are at the Eudora Market on Tuesday evenings thru the end of September and Cottin's Hardware Market on Thursday evenings.
We are very proud of our poultry meat. We raise Heritage Hybrid and Cornish Cross chickens plus a few White Breast turkeys.
We are trying to produce nutrient dense chicken meat with flavor. Our birds are pasture raised, and we are working with feed nutritionists plus we are growing alternate varieties of poultry to explore the flavor and texture they can provide.
Meet The Animals!
Welcome to Hawk N Cat Farm, where every member of our diverse animal family plays a vital role in crafting our signature high-quality food. Our chickens tirelessly lay nutritious eggs, while our ducks gracefully waddle through the fields, enriching the soil with their quirkiness. Buzzing among the blossoms, our bees diligently pollinate, ensuring bountiful harvests of sweet honey. But it doesn't stop there – our trusty farm dogs are the guardians of our land, lending a paw to keep everything running smoothly. Here, harmony between species isn't just a concept – it's a way of life, resulting in food that's not only delicious but also sustainably sourced.

The Chickens
Our flock of chickens boasts a delightful mix of breeds. We raise majestic Buff Orpingtons, known for their gentle disposition, elegant White Faced Black Spanish chickens, the “eye candy” we have admired for their striking appearance since we saw them at P. Allen Smith's in Arkansas, and industrious Novagens. Our happy chickens lay farm fresh eggs for your breakfast table.

Cayuga Ducks
We have Cayuga ducks because our son had them as a 4-H project when he was young. Cayuga ducks are originally from New York state and are absolutely beautiful. Their main purpose on our property is to keep my blood pressure low. The sound they make and the way they look make daily chores a very calming experience.

The Meat Chickens
We are currently growing Heritage Hybrid plus Cornish Cross chickens in various chicken tractors types including John Suscovich style chicken tractors give them shelter at night. During the day the doors are opened, and they forage on grass with only a fence to restrict them. They eat high quality non gmo feed.

The Head Rooster
Roscoe is a Buff Orpington rooster who keeps the hens safe. He was sold to us by a local 4Her after receiving a Blue ribbon at the county fair.
Roscoe is very alert and sounds an alarm crow when danger is nearby, then he and the hens retreat to a safe place.

The Bees
Currently we have 18 hives. We are members of the Northeastern Kansas BeeKeepers association. We have a bee mentor with 3 master’s degrees in beekeeping to help ensure our bees are well maintained. We sell the honey in various market venues including a few businesses, farmers markets and from our house.

The Dogs
Ridley and Riley are our four-legged kids. They are boxers, our loyal and goofy companions that love to chase predators. Sometimes a predator is real and sometimes they get a little off base and think squirrels are the biggest threat to the world. They make our life better even if they sometimes are a bit mischievous.
