PASTURE RAISED POULTRY EGGS AND MEAT - PRODUCE - HONEY
A JOURNEY FOR REAL FOOD WITH REAL FLAVOR
We produce pasture raised poultry. Currently we are enrolled in a study exploring nutrient density of pasture raised chicken. We also have a SARE grant comparing Heritage Hybrid chicken and Cornish Cross chickens for taste, texture, and feasibility using three different feed options.
The preliminary lab results show that our Heritage Hybrid chicken meat is nutrient dense in several categories and good in the others. The protein levels are higher than the conventionally raised chicken as reported by USDA. We raise Heritage Hybrid and Cornish Cross chickens and White Breast turkeys.
When our study is complete from our SARE grant we will publish the results of our taste tests.

Meet The Animals!
Welcome to Hawk N Cat Farm, where every member of our diverse animal family plays a vital role in crafting our signature high-quality food. Our ducks lay nutritious eggs, and waddle through the fields, enriching the soil with their quirkiness. Buzzing among the blossoms, our bees diligently pollinate, ensuring bountiful harvests of sweet honey. But it doesn't stop there – our trusty farm dogs are the guardians of our land, lending a paw to keep everything running smoothly. Here, harmony between species isn't just a concept – it's a way of life, resulting in food that's not only delicious but also sustainably sourced.
The Chickens
Our flock of chickens ares a delightful mix of breeds. We have majestic Buff Orpingtons, known for their gentle disposition, elegant White Faced Black Spanish chickens, the “eye candy” we have admired for their striking appearance since we saw them at P. Allen Smith's in Arkansas, and industrious Novagens. Our happy chickens lay farm fresh eggs for your breakfast table.
Cayuga Ducks
We have Cayuga ducks because our son had them as a 4-H project when he was young. Cayuga ducks are originally from New York state and are absolutely beautiful. Their main purpose on our property is to keep my blood pressure low. The sound they make and the way they look make daily chores a very calming experience.
The Meat Chickens
We are currently growing Heritage Hybrid plus Cornish Cross chickens in various chicken tractors types including John Suscovich style chicken tractors give them shelter at night. During the day the doors are opened, and they forage on grass with only a fence to restrict them. They eat high quality non gmo feed.
Turkeys
Our turkeys are pasture raised and fed non-gmo feed. They day range which means that they are free to roam as they please in a large area but are protected in a chicken tractor at night.
Heritage Hybrid Chickens
In our grant study we raised both Pioneer and Freedom Ranger heritage hybrid chickens. They are a slower growing bird compared to the Cornish Cross. We have had positive feedback from our taste tests.
The Dogs
Ridley and Riley are our four-legged kids. They are boxers, our loyal and goofy companions that love to chase predators. Sometimes a predator is real and sometimes they get a little off base and think squirrels are the biggest threat to the world. They make our life better even if they sometimes are a bit mischievous.
